We're Back!!!

Ok, Ok.  So the updates have been few and far between this year.  All I can say is ..............busy summer.  But a rough one for a few of us.  The HDL was hurt by injuries to veteran and other key players that took it's toll on some teams and the web site.

The most notable and gruesome came along in a Blue-Purple game a few weeks back that cost the Blue guys their heavy hitter, Roy Golightly.  A freakish occurence in the field of play cost the Blue this valuable contributor.  Get back with us soon, Roy.

The post season is on and marching toward Autozone again this year, hopefully.
Take a look at the picture page for some 2002 season shots that the Prez provided.  Looking forward to the continuation this weekend(weather permitting).  Keep an eye on the regular season stats over on the Stats page in the near future.  Having difficulty loading current stats at this time, stay tuned.

We will try to keep this site fresh through the post season leading to the 'Zone.

Stay tuned!

Playoffs Are Here!

The 2002 play off round robin is upon us.  The first week saw the McGee Body Shop take down Razor's Edge and Peterbilt Reds eeking one out over Cupboard Teal, 4-3.  Not having much information the Purple's victory over the Blue, we will comment on the exciting game between the Reds and Teal.

Jerry Weaver and Bill Brigance put on an outstanding pitching display Sunday, 9/29.  Weaver for the Reds and Brigance for the Teal combined for a total 17 strikeouts in the game.  Weaver pitched his usual dominating game with a few glitches where the Teal were able to capitalize on some opportunities early.  But, the real story has to be Brigance throughout the game.  He pitched, argueably, his best game in two years on Sunday holding the Reds to one run through eight innings.  With the usual line up not in place defensively, Brigance pitched a masterful game with battery mate John DiGiacomo.  Some good defensive play in key spots helped the Teal take a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth.  An errant throw by Johnny Houghton on a Scott Spencer hit to short led to the Reds march.  Paul Baioni bunted his way to first moving the runner to third before stealing 2nd base.  Bruce Houston doubled to drive in two runs that tied the game just before Phil Schwager drilled the winning RBI single.  If not for Schwager, Brigance would truly be the story of the game with nine Ks.  But Schwager delivered big at the plate all day proving to be the only Red player to have the reigning batting champion's number.

Great game and nice way to start off the post season in HDL.
