I READ THE ATTACHED EMAIL BY LEAGUE PRESIDENT LARRY RUTLEDGE AND TAKE A PERSONAL AFRONT TO THE COMMENT THAT THE GUYS WHO DECIDED TO PLAY COMPETITIVE BASEBALL ARE CONSIDERED DEFECTORS. IT HAS BEEN MADE ABUNDANTLY CLEAR THAT THE HDL IS PURELY FOR RECREATION AND NO FORM OF COMPETIVENESS IS ACCEPTED. I DO NOT APPRECIATE THE STIGMA THAT HE HAS BEEN ATTACHED TO THESE PLAYERS. ALSO, THE STATEMENT THAT THE HDL IS AN OLD TIMERS LEAGUE IS IN COMPLETE CONTRAST TO AGE REQUIREMENTS. I CERTAINLY DON'T THINK OF ANYONE THAT IS 30 YEARS OF AGE AS AN OLD TIMER. IF HE AS A LEAGUE PRESIDENT TOOK EVERYONES INPUT WHEN MAKING RULES CHANGES RATHER THAN THE VIEWS OF THE AGED MINORITY, WE COULD BE SATISFIED WITH THE HDL AND IT'S EVER CHANGING RULES OF PLAY. IT CERTAINLY APPEARS THE RULES WILL ALWAYS REFLECT THE WISHES OF THE OFFICERS ONLY AND NOT THE LEAGUE AS A WHOLE. I ,AS A LONG TIME LEAGUE MEMBER, FEEL THE LEAGUE HAD A REAL CHANCE OF EXPANDING FROM THE OLD WAY(1992-1997) WHEN THE FOY FOLDED AND ENTERED SEVERAL COMPETITIVE PLAYERS ALONG WITH CHRIS HUGHES' PROMOTION OF THE LEAGUE TO HIS SOFTBALL BUDDIES. HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT LARRY WANTS THIS TO BE HIS LEAGUE WITH HIS RULES. THESE RULES DEFINITELY REMOVE ANY CHANCE OF THE LEAGUE EXPANDING INTO SOMETHING OTHER THAN A "OLD TIMERS" LEAGUE!!!!!!! SEE YA WHEN I'M AN OLD TIMER!
