McGee Purple starts out 2-0

Jodie Wolfe took the mound for the Purple on Sunday, May 5th and went on to contribute greatly with a 3 run homer mid way through the game.  There was strong hitting from both teams as well as a closer contest than the week before.  Solid play by veterans such as Wolfe, Larry Hunsucker and Ronny Carbo helped to seal the deal for the Purple.  The Teal started Bill Brigance who pitched well with solid defensive play from Ray Rhinehart at second base backing him all day.  Team skipper Rob DiGiacomo turned up his game in left field to secure some crucial put outs for the Teal.  Brigance and Jerry Brooks had key hits deep into center to get the scoring going for their guys.  After Brigance left the mound, Gene Brady took the hill and then was replaced by Brooks who finished the game.

Razor's Edge over Peterbilt
Final, 13-10

Larry Rutledge started for Razor's Edge and faced Sonny Sheeks for Peterbilt. The game was see-saw for 4 innings before Razor's edge broke on top when Michael New sent a Sonny Sheek's 0-2 pitch over the left field wall for a Grand Slam in the top of the 4th to put the Blue team on top, Peterbilt brought in relief pitcher Doug Martin who gave up a two out single to Larry Rutledge who drilled a high outside fastball down the right field line to put the Blue ahead 10-5.

The bottom of the 5th was a disaster for Larry Rutledge who had trouble throwing strikes and with the bases loaded, Steve Harmon hit a 0-0 curve ball off the right field wall for a bases clearing triple and then scored when the ball from right field was thrown past Catcher Kevin Sears , Harmon scored to make the score 10-9. After another walk, the Blue team made a pitching change with Mike Tollison coming on to work out of the inning but not until the Reds tied the game at 10-10.

The Blue Team offense recaptured the momentum of the game by tagging Doug Martin with some deep fly balls from Blue hitters, Tim Young and Roy Golightly. Tim Young was 3-4 for the Blue Team and provided some "unexpected" help for Razor's Edge.

Mike Tollison pitched the best he has all year getting ground balls and a 1-2-3 inning in the 6th when Bruce Houston grounded out to Chris Hughes. After Robert Miller walked with one out, Bruce became the courtesy runner on first base. Jerry Weaver looped a short fly ball into right field that was ruled a "catch" when Roy Golightly caught the ball as 2nd baseman, Dennis Hollis collided with Roy Golightly after the "catch". The ball was then thrown into 2nd base where Chris Hughes threw to First base to double-up Bruce Houston who was running on the hit ball, to retire the side.

Mike Tollison pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 7th inning as time had expired.
